Kiambu: Kenya Power equipment worth Ksh11M recovered in scrap metal yard

Kiambu-based detectives have recovered assorted Kenya Power equipment with an estimated worth of Ksh11 million.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI), the state properties were recovered following a raid at a scrap metal yard in the Denderu location.

The yard is said to be owned by a trader identified as Patrick King’ori who escaped arrest and remains at large.

Among the recovered items were transformer fuses, pilon bindings, transformer laminations and shells, as well as high tension cables among other equipment vandalized from power lines.

So far, detectives have arrested one suspect and have since launched a manhunt for the main suspect.

“One suspect identified as Florence Kariuki, 30 was arrested during the raid as efforts to arrest the main suspect intensify,” part of the statement reads.
