Veteran rapper Colonel Mustafa opened up about his mother’s cancer which he said made him seek a job at a construction site.

Mustafa sent social media into a frenzy when he was seen working at a construction site as a handyman.

The rapper, who had been off the grid for a while, suddenly started making headlines after a video of him doing hard labour went viral on social media.

Speaking during an interview with Ankali Ray on Milele FM, Mustafa confirmed that it was indeed him who is seen in the viral video working at the construction site.

Ni kweli ule ni wewe? (Is it true you are the one?)” Ankali asked.

“Yeah bro,” Mustafa replied.

Kitu gani kinaendelea Colonel? (What’s happening Colonel?) Ankali probed further.

The rapper revealed he had been working as a construction worker for some time and that he was hiding the fact that he had fallen from grace to grass.

Ni Maisha tu. Maisha imekua ngumu. Kwa kifupi tu ni shuguli nimekua nimeifanya kwa muda na nilikua nimeificha sana,” he said.

Hii si kiki? (This is not clout chasing?) Ankali asked.

The rapper assured Ankali that he was not clout-chasing.

Mustafa revealed that he was forced to work as a construction worker because his mother was diagnosed with cancer and her treatment is very expensive.

The veteran rapper disclosed that his mother is suffering from lymphoma cancer.

Hii ni kitu imenifanyikia. Mamangu amekua mgonjwa cancer sasa hio ndo ikachangia sana sasa ndo naenda kupiga kibarua sababu pesa inaenda sana sasa niweze kumsaidia. Alikua na lymphoma,” he said.

Lymphoma is a cancer that begins in the infection-fighting cells of the immune system, called lymphocytes. These cells are in the lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, bone marrow, and other parts of the body. When you have lymphoma, lymphocytes change and grow out of control.

Lymphoma is very treatable, and the outlook can vary depending on the type of lymphoma and its stage. [sic]
