Leaders in Bungoma County have appealed to Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to respond swiftly to the rising cases of insecurity in the area.
The leaders led by Bungoma senator Wafula Wakoli decried that cases of insecurity have been on the rise with the most recent incident happening on Friday, April 7, 2023.
In the unfortunate incident, pastor David Ngeywo was shot dead by gun-wielding thugs who attacked him at the market.
Wakoli who was addressing residents vowed to amplify calls for security in the region and ensure that culprits involved in the murder of the pastor are arrested.
“These officers will have to be transferred, I will not sit back as our people are not protected,” he stated.
Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa echoed Wakoli’s sentiments and called on police to conduct investigations and apprehend those who participated in the murder of the local pastor.
Through a statement, Barasa condoled with the family of the victim and reiterated that his perpetrators will be brought to book.
“The late Ngeywo, a Pastor at Calvary Church Kaptama was shot dead yesternight by unknown armed assailants at Kaptama,
“We call upon the security officers to carry out thorough investigation and apprehend all those who engaged in heinous act; the shooting of a Pastor cum businessman,” he added.
