A woman is on the run after allegedly killing and burying her five-month-old baby in her neighbour’s farm.

The incident occurred at the Kipsagamu village in Saboti, Trans Nzoia County.

According to the Trans Nzoia Police Commander, Ayub Gitonga, the woman and her husband had quarreled but did not reveal what the row was about.

The infant’s body has since been retrieved from the shallow grave and taken to a mortuary in Kitale.

It was the neighbour’s wife who discovered the shallow grave on her farm on Monday morning, July 27, as she was tending her vegetable garden.

She said she alerted her husband who dug up the grave only to find the baby’s body wrapped in a towel and put in a carton box.

They called one of their neighbour’s who positively identified the baby girl as his child.

It was then that they noticed that the child’s mother was missing and informed the authorities.

Mr Gitonga told K24 Digital that police are searching for the woman.
