Wednesday power blackout set to hammer 10 counties

A planned power outage scheduled for Wednesday, July 24, 2024, is set to affect 10 counties across Kenya, as per the latest announcement from Kenya Power.

The outage, intended for maintenance, will disrupt multiple regions, each experiencing temporary power cuts at different times throughout the day.

“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as follows: (Periodic interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of power lines, connect new customers, or replace power lines during construction, etc.),” stated Kenya Power on its official website.

Although temporary, this outage is expected to significantly impact various sectors and activities in the affected counties.

According to Kenya Power, the Wednesday blackout will affect Bomet, Nyeri, Tharaka Nithi, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Kisii, Migori, Meru, Kiambu and Kwale Counties.

Bomet

Area: Kapkwen, Makimeny

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected:   Meja, Kings Outreach, Bomet Police, Siloam Hospital, Kapkwen Mkt, Kiriba, Makimeny, Saunet, Kibereisit, Kipkuror, Mathew Maritim, Tarakwa, Sahara, Sachangwan, Kipsiwon, Kapsio, Kagawet, Solyot, Chororoita, Muiywek, Leldaet & adjacent customers.

Nyeri

Area: Kairuthi, Gathumbi

Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Affected places:  Kairuthi H/Center, Ngunyi TBC, Iriaini, Gathumbi Village, Kahigaini, Iriaini T/Fact, Thunguri & adjacent customers.

Tharaka Nithi

Area: Kaareni, Kambururu

Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Places affected: Kaareni, Kabururu, Igambangombe, Kamaindi & adjacent customers.

Trans Nzoia

Area: Natwana, Moi’s Bridge

Time: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Places affected: Natwana, Matunda Centre, Mois Bridge Centre, Amagoro, Conbelt, Nzoia Pri, Kwinet, Lower Mogoon, Milimani & adjacent customers.

Kakamega

Area: Lubao, Shikusa

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: NHC, Mwiyala, Emusala, Haditi, Lubao, FM, Lubao Mkt, Shikusa Prison, Buhaiywa, Othopaedic Hosp & adjacent customers.

Kisii

Area: Kamagambo

Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
