Nairobi and Mombasa

According to the advisory, Kenya Met informed Nairobi residents to brace themselves for cloudy and sunny intervals throughout the day. The minimum temperature in the city will hit 13 degrees Celsius while the maximum will stand at 24 degrees Celsius.

From the forecast, Nairobi is expected to remain cold throughout the day.

Various parts of Nairobi have been experiencing short rainfall, especially in the afternoon followed by extreme cold at night.

On Tuesday July 9, 2024 and Wednesday July 10, 2024, most city dwellers were caught unprepared by the light rains which pounded for the better part of the afternoon.

The sudden rains caused traffic along various roads including Mombasa Road, Thika Road and Jogoo Road.

In Mombasa, the weather will be characterised by sunny intervals and rainfall. Temperatures in the coastal city will hit a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius.

Kisumu and Eldoret

The authority has forecasted that Kisumu will experience rainfall which will then be followed by sunny intervals throughout the day. Temperatures in the lakeside city will stand at 28 and 17 degrees Celsius.

Eldoret residents will also receive light showers before experiencing sunny intervals. The maximum temperature in Eldoret will hit 22 degrees Celsius and the minimum will be 13 degrees Celsius.

Nakuru, Nyeri, Marsabit

Nakuru residents will experience sunny intervals throughout the day with a maximum temperature hitting 24 degrees Celsius.

In Nyeri, the weather will be characterised by cloudy and sunny intervals with a minimum temperature dropping to 13 degrees Celsius.

In Marsabit, residents will experience sunny intervals throughout the day, while the temperature will peak at 26 degrees Celsius.

With the expected rainfall, various stakeholders have advised Kenyans to practice farming.

The ruling party, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) asked Kenyans to take advantage of the rain and plant to boost the country’s food basket.

“Let’s take advantage of the ongoing rains and the government’s subsidised fertiliser programme to plant food and cash crops. This will help us achieve food security and increase farmers’ earnings,” UDA advised Kenyans.
