Wambugu accuses Gachagua of misleading the nation with a straight face
By Isaac Mutia, July 9, 2025Former lawmaker Ngunjiri Wambugu has reacted to Rigathi Gachagua’s press conference. The leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) addressed the nation on Wednesday, 9 July 2025.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Ngunjiri slammed the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for associating with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ngunjiri further exposed Gachagua for attacking the 4th President of Kenya even after leaving office. The former outspoken Nyeri MP also cited that the DCP party leader only changed his stance against Uhuru after he got into trouble with the current administration.
“Yaani Gachagua lies with a straight face”, Ngunjiri wrote.
“Everyone knows that Gachagua attacked Uhuru viciously every day for it!!!! Called him mlevi and all other disgusting names. Attacked his mother. And then continued to attack him, his family, his property & businesses & his party, even after they won.
“And only changed strategically when he got into trouble with his friends & knew they would impeach him,” the former Nyeri MP said.
Additionally, Ngunjiri Wambugu said that one would think Gachagua was trying to stop Ruto’s bid to be President. This comes as Gachagua expressed frustrations for not listening to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who warned the Mt Kenya region against electing William Ruto.
“But listening to him today, one would think that he was on our side in 2022, trying to stop William Ruto from being President. Guy is a complete gangster!” Ngunjiri added.
Since his impeachment, Gachagua has been at the forefront of campaigning against President Ruto in the Mt Kenya region. He has also apologised on behalf of his community for not listening to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who had requested them not to vote for Ruto during the 2022 elections.
The former Deputy President has also vowed to rally over 8 million residents of the central region to vote for someone else in 2027 in a move to unseat President Ruto.
