Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa has faulted President William Ruto over his decision to send more police contingent to gang-stricken Haiti as Kenya continues to grapple with insecurity.
Taking to his official X account on Sunday, January 19, 2025, Wamalwa stated that it was a matter of supreme irony for President Ruto to send police more officers to fight gangs and abductors in Haiti, the Caribbean country located over 12,000 Kilometres away, as Mungiki gangs and hooded abductors in Subaru vehicles continue terrorizing Kenyans back home.

Wamalwa took issue with an incident that saw former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga storm former second lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi’s prayer event in Nyeri on Saturday, January 18, 2025, subsequently disrupting it.
He further pointed out an incident that saw former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua attacked at a funeral event in Limuru, and the new wave of abductions that have been witnessed in the country, as matters of grave concern which must be stopped.
“It’s a matter of Supreme irony that President @WilliamsRuto can send more officers to fight gangs and abductors in Haiti over 12,000kms away and allow Mungiki gangs and hooded subaru abductors to continue terrorizing Kenyan citizens back home! What happened to @Pastor_Dorcas and the congregation in Nyeri yesterday, what happened to @rigathi at a Limuru funeral recently, what is happening on our streets where Kenyan citizens and foreigners are abducted in broad daylight, is unacceptable and must stop,” Wamalwa wrote on X.
Wamalwa went ahead to call for the resignation of President Ruto and his entire regime, should the head of state fail to address the growing insecurity in the country.
“Kenya must remain a Nation under God and under the rule of law , not a Gangster Republic, Serikali ya Majambaz and a Banana Republic. If he can’t stop this madness, Ruto and his failed regime must resign!” he stated.

217 officers leave for Haiti
Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen saw off a contingent of an additional 217 officers to the Caribbean country on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Murkomen hailed the Kenya security mission to Haiti, saying it has yielded results.
“The 217 officers will reinforce the first batch of 400 deployed last year to the Caribbean nation to restore peace. The Kenya-led mission has made tremendous progress in reducing gang violence, earning praise across the globe, including from both the outgoing and incoming US administrations.
“Our commitment to this historic mission is unwavering, and we will continue to mobilise all the necessary international support for it to succeed,” Murkomen said in a statement on X on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
