Wajackoyah returns to Kenya after graduating with PhD from US university

George Wajackoyah, the 2022 Roots Party presidential candidate known for championing the legalisation of bhang, was welcomed back to Kenya on Saturday, July 19, 2025, by Matungu MP Oscar Nabulindo.

In a post shared on X, Wajackoyah expressed gratitude for the warm reception upon his return. A photo accompanying the post shows him standing outdoors beside a luxury vehicle, hinting at a formal or celebratory setting—possibly at a private residence or official venue.

His return follows his recent graduation with a PhD from a U.S. university.

“I am deeply grateful to Hon Oscar Nabulindo for the warm welcome back home to Kenya this morning,” Wajakoyah said, thanking the Member of Parliament for Matungu Constituency.

A legal practitioner and 2022 presidential candidate under the Roots Party, Wajackoyah is known for his bold manifesto (e.g., legalising bhang to address Kenya’s debt) and controversial claims, such as possessing 17 degrees and his “Shot in State House” theory about the 1990 murder of Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko.

His return to Kenya positions him as a figure of interest amid a politically charged moment.

Wajackoyah’s PhD graduation enhances his stature, potentially setting the stage for a renewed political push.
