Waititu’s wife surrenders to EACC after husband’s arrest

Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s wife has surrendered to the anti-graft detectives on Sunday.

Ms Susan Wangari Ndung’u turned herself in on Sunday at the Integrity Centre hours after her husband surrendered.

The two are among 12 individuals ordered arrested and charged with irregular tendering for Sh588 millions roads upgrade in Kiambu County.

Besides Mr Waititu and his wife, the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji ordered Kiambu Roads chief officer Luka Mwangi, Testimony Enterprises Director Beth Wangechi and three members of the county tender team to surrender themselves to police.

On July 17, the EACC recommended charging of 12 persons over the irregular award of the tender for upgrading of various gravel roads to bituminous roads by the Kiambu County.

Mr Haji gave consent for the 12 individuals to be charged with abuse of office, flouting tender law, among other offences.
