Ferdinand Waititu has filed an application under a certificate of urgency at the constitutional division of the High Court.
Waititu is seeking conservatory orders to revoke the decision of the Senate to impeach him pending the hearing and determination of his application.
His lawyer, Collins Kiprono, told K24 Digital that they filed the application at the High Court before heading to the magistrate’s court where the impeached governor’s corruption is up for mention and directions.
As Waititu attends his court date, his deputy governor Dr. James Nyoro, is preparing to be sworn in as the Kiambu governor.
Following his application, Waititu will wait for directions from the court and hope that the judge will grant him conservatory orders.
If granted conservatory orders, Waititu will still remain locked out of his office since his corruption case has not been heard and determined. But it will be a sort of relief since he will still be a governor.
Should the High Court uphold his impeachment, Waititu still has room to go to the Court of Appeal where if not satisfied, he can still go to the Supreme Court.
