A middle-aged man from Uthiru in Kiambu County was on Monday, December 9, charged with raping a young woman while armed with a kitchen knife.

The suspect, Charles Mbusiro, also allegedly ordered the victim to perform oral sex on him. After committing the acts, Mbusiro — the court was told — stole the victim’s Ksh600 from her M-Pesa wallet.

The Kibera Law Courts heard that the victim, who works as a waitress at a restaurant in Githurai, arrived at her Uthiru home on the night of December 4, when Mbusiro grabbed and dragged her to a nearby maize plantation, where he ordered her to undress. The court was told that Mbusiro hanged the victim’s dress on an avocado tree.

The suspect, thereafter, allegedly ordered the woman to perform oral sex on him lest he harm her.

When he was pleased, the aggressor, thereafter, raped the woman, the court was told.

The victim, in her police report, said Mbusiro was strange to him, and that on the fateful night, he was armed with a kitchen knife, which he used in coercing her to cooperate, threatening to kill her if she defied his instructions.

“After ejaculating, the suspect told me to use the dress to clean my private parts. He, thereafter, instructed me to leave the scene and never reveal to anyone what he had done to me,” said the victim.

The woman, in her police report, said the suspect robbed her of her Ksh130, which was in her purse, and, thereafter, demanded she reveals to him her M-Pesa PIN, which she did. In her mobile money wallet, the suspect transferred Ksh600 to his phone, the court was told.

“When I arrived home, I found my aunt in the house. I was in tears at the time. She asked me what the matter was. I narrated to her the ordeal, and she advised me to report the incident to police when the day breaks. The following day, I filed a report at an Uthiru police post,” said the victim.

Mbusiro was arrested in Uthiru and charged on Monday with the offences.

The suspect denied all the allegations, and was released on Ksh600, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.

Kibera Senior Resident Magistrate, Boaz Ombewa, set December 24, 2019 as the mention date, and the case to be heard on March 3, 2020.
