The number of people with coronavirus in Kenya could rise if the results of three suspected cases return positive.

This was revealed by the Government Spokesperson (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna on Monday in a media briefing.

Oguna said that a total of 20 people are being monitored, three of whom are the cases confirmed earlier.

The three whose results are being awaited exhibited coronavirus-like symptoms, Oguna said.

Further, Oguna said the government has stepped up measures to curb the spread of the disease in the country, with 35 counties having already set up isolation centres.

“We have continued to strengthen our measures and we have put efforts in place to ensure that the situation does not escalate beyond what it is…. We have consistently worked to enhance county capacity and currently we can say proudly say that we have 35 counties that have confirmed that they have necessary quarantine and isolation facilities to be able to handle Covid-19 cases…” said Oguna.
