President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, August 27, declared a vacancy in the Office of the Auditor-General.

The president, in a Gazette Notice number 8004, asked interested Kenyans to send their applications by September 9, 2019.

The vacancy has arisen following the expiry of Edward Ouko’s 8-year term, which ended officially on Tuesday, August 27.

To be qualified for the post, one has to be a citizen of Kenya, have extensive knowledge of public finance, or have at least 10 years experience in auditing or public finance management.

Further, the interested person must be a degree holder in finance, accounting or economics from a university recognised in Kenya.

He or she must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution, which stipulates Leadership and Integrity rules that public servants must abide by.

The interested candidate must also be a member of a professional body of accountants recognised by law.

One will be disqualified immediately if he or she is an MP or MCA, bankrupt, has been removed from office due to contravention of law and is an official of a governing body or a political party.

“All applications should be submitted together with detailed CV, a copy of national ID or passport, copies of academic and professional certificates, testimonials and any other relevant supporting documents,” reads a part of the gazette notice.

Online submissions should be sent to [email protected]. Hard copy submissions on the other hand, should be put in a sealed envelope, clearly marked ‘Application for the post of Auditor-General’ and delivered to the Secretary/CEO Public Service Commission of P.O. Box 30095-00100, Nairobi.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to present the following: National ID or passport, academic certificates and clearance certificates from KRA, EACC, HELB, CRB and the DCI.

In Gazette Notice number 8005, President Kenyatta announced the interim appointment of Stephen Masha as the acting Controller of Budget.

Masha’s appointment, which runs for 90 days, comes after the expiry of Agnes Odhiambo’s 8-year stint.

After the 90 days end, the PSC will fill up the position on permanent terms, the president said in a Gazette Notice number 8006.

Interested candidates must send their applications by September 9, 2019.

The qualification guidelines for the Controller of Budget post are similar to that of the Auditor-General.

Online applications for the Controller of Budget post should be sent to [email protected].

Hard copy applications should be addressed to the Secretary/CEO, Public Service Commission, 4th floor Commission House, off Harambee Avenue.
