A review of Kenya’s first 621 coronavirus cases has revealed that 163 of them were imported, according to a Nation Newsplex analysis.
A third of those imported cases, 47, were from people travelling from the United Arab Emirates, a busy international travelling hub and destination of migrant workers.
According to the analysis, at least 37 countries in five continents exported a Covid-19 case to Kenya, with the first reported case from London.
Ironically, China, the epicentre of the pandemic that originated its Wuhan City in Hubei Province, only contributed two cases, a Kenyan woman from Nyandarua and a Nairobi male resident.
The United Kingdom accounted for 17 of those cases while the United States expored 15 cases.
Thirteen people have also tested positive after travelling from Somalia, the highest among African countries.
