Two women from Lessos estate in the outskirts of Kitale town who were allegedly gang-raped narrates their ordeal in the hands of six rapists who posed as boda boda riders.

The two who are currently undergoing medical examination and treatment spoke on anonymity to K24 Digital to unfold the unfortunate trauma after a fun night out.

On the fateful night, the two were taking a ride back home after boarding a motorbike outside the bar.

The two were allegedly lured by one operator who begged them saying he had left his wife with nothing to buy food and they fell for his pleas.

After boarding the motorcycle the operator is said to have taken a detour to a local petrol station to refill his bike and informed them that they were to take a different route as the normal route was being manned by police.

“We enquired on why we were taking a different route but he just sped toward Bidii forest,” one of the victims stated.

It is here that the motorbike got stuck in a ditch and the two tried to dash for dear life but the motorbike driver hit them with a metal bar.

“He hit me so hard that I screamed but in no time we saw more operators who seemed to be following us and we were surrounded and ordered to remain silent,” they alleged.

It is here that the two ladies were pushed to the nearby forest and raped repeatedly with the men taking turns to have sex with them before taking off with their phones.

“We thank God they used condoms but they really hurt us in the process while thanking the operator for the job well done.”

According to some of the locals and the area village elder, it is not the first time the cases are reported as they have had numerous cases of such nature pitying boda boda riders.

“some of the gang members when caught claim to be victims of the thieves thus evading justice, something that has really led to the deterioration of security in the area in the recent past,” Barasa added.

On their part area boda boda leadership under their chairman Tony Kolombo have cautioned the general public to be wary of gangsters who have penetrated their ranks claiming to be genuine operators.

“Before you board any motorbike make sure you know the stage name fixed in the front plus the number plate of the motorcycle to help us in case of such an incident.”

Area police commander Jacinta Wesonga has acknowledged receiving five rape cases in the past nine days saying they were working with speed to resolve the cases which she says are on the rise.

“We want to start a working relationship with the local boda boda leadership to weed out groups of gangs who are posing as boda boda operator’s so I am urging their leadership to know the working of their members especially at night.”
