The top three candidates in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations have been selected to join Alliance schools.

Andy Munyiri, who topped the national examinations with 440 marks out of the possible 500 will join Alliance High School.

The top female KCPE candidates, June Jeptoo and Onyango Flavian, who tied in second with 439 marks will join Pangani and Alliance girls high schools respectively.

Out of 1,083,456 students who sat for this year’s KCPE exams, 1,075,201 have been placed to secondary schools.

Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof George Magoha, said the number has excluded inmates, over-age and those in refugee camps.

“I will seek audience with the President on the fate of over-age students to ensure 100 percent transition to secondary schools,” said Prof Magoha on Monday.

The CS said Form One selection process has strictly been on merit and students’ choices.

Slightly over 30,000 are set to join national schools while another 184,816 will join extra-county schools.
