Police in Nairobi on Wednesday, August 18, nabbed three robbery suspects who were in possession of police uniform and a home-made pistol.

In a report seen by K24 Digital, police stormed a house in Mukuru Kwa Reuben where they found three suspects identified as Festus Nyamae, 24, Kitutu Maleli, 51 and Green Mbuya.

A search was conducted in the house and police officers recovered the following items; one home-made pistol, three kitchen knives, one locally made firing pin, one military jungle uniform, military surgent chevron, four assorted mobile phones and two simcards.

It all started when members of the public tipped off the police on the activities that are being carried out by the three and four others who are yet to be arrested. The seven have been living inside a single room in the Mukuru Kwa Reuben slums.

“While the officers were on patrol duties, they received a tip-off information from members of the public that a group of about seven young men being housed in one of the shanties building in Reuben slums, along Enterprise Road,” the report read in part.

It further revealed that the officers rushed to the scene while in company of the Deputy police boss Makadara and his party where they stormed the house and cornered the three.

The trio is currently held at Industrial Area Police Station where they are being grilled on their activities in the vast Makadara constituency.

Police believe that the trio is part of a bigger gang that has been giving locals within the slum sleepless nights.

In March, police officers arrested four suspected robbers in Mukuru Kwa Reuben moments after they attacked and stole from a pedestrian.

The four who are currently serving a jail-term were identified as Festus Ochieng, Zahikoline Vezenengwa, Jeremiah Ateka and Alex Kamani Mutuku.
