Four terror suspects have so far been arrested since Sunday for attempting to gain access into military installations in Kenya.

On Monday morning, January 6, 2020, police arrested a male Somali-Canadian suspect in Eastleigh, Nairobi after he was found conducting surveillance at the Kenya Defence Force’s Moi Air Base.

The suspect was handed over to a multi-agency team for interrogation.

His arrest came just 12 hours after three other suspects were arrested after they tried to gain forcible entry into the Nanyuki-based British Army Camp.

The Nanyuki town chief and two police officers arrested the suspected terrorists who had earlier been captured on CCTV and their photos circulated.

The three were later traced near Nanyuki Police Station where they were arrested.

Security has been heightened across the country since Sunday’s attack on a joint US-Kenya military base that left five Al-Shabaab terrorists dead.

Three American citizens, among them a solider, were killed in the Sunday dawn attack at the Manda Bay Airfield, Lamu County.

The family of the Fort Rucker soldier Henry Mitch Mayfield 23, based in Chicago confirmed that the US Army had reached out to them on Sunday afternoon and informed them of the death.

Mayfield was killed alongside two other US contractors during the attack where five other terrorists were also killed.
