National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has called on journalists covering parliamentary proceedings to uphold accuracy, objectivity, and professionalism in their reporting.

Speaking during a consultative meeting with the newly elected leadership of the Kenya Parliamentary Journalists Association (KPJA), led by its chairman Moses Aliwa, Wetang’ula underscored the importance of fostering a collaborative relationship between Parliament and the media.

In a statement on Thursday, November 6, 2025, he described the media as a “critical stakeholder in advancing the legislature’s agenda of legislation, oversight, and representation.”

“Drawing from my years of experience in working with Journalists and aware of their role in informing and educating the public on matters of parliamentary business, I urged them to strive to remain factual and authentic in their reporting while upholding high levels of professionalism,” part of the statement read.

“During  the engagement, I challenged the journalists to read, research, and maintain accurate coverage on parliamentary work.”

He clarified that Parliament does not view the media as adversaries but rather as partners in governance and public accountability.
