Son of late MCA declared UDA flagbearer in Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward by-election
By K24 Digital Reporter, September 23, 2025Vincent Kiplimo Rutto, the son of the late Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward MCA Julius Kipruto Keter, has been declared the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) flagbearer after winning the party’s nomination primaries with 3,399 votes.
UDA Returning Officer Regina Wanjiru Katambi announced the results at Chemundu Primary School, declaring Rutto the winner ahead of five other contestants. His closest rival, former ward representative Robert Kipchirchir Kirwa, garnered 1,432 votes.

Others included Julius Kibet Kemboi with 310, Ali Kiplagat Mutai with 158, Rasheed Nuh with 120, and Felix Kipkosgei Kirwa with 111 votes.
Acceptance speech
In his acceptance speech, Rutto pledged to carry on the development agenda of his late father and urged his competitors to rally behind him ahead of the November 27, 2025, by-election.

“We all won. UDA has won,” he said.
Nandi Woman Representative Cynthia Muge commended the party leadership under President William Ruto for introducing electronic voting gadgets, saying the innovation had boosted credibility and transparency.
“This is a litmus test for the upcoming elections,” said Muge.
Tears of joy flowed as Purity Keter, Rutto’s mother, celebrated his victory. She expressed confidence in his ability to deliver on the ward’s development priorities.
“Thank you, people of Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward, for supporting my son. God has made it,” she said.
With the UDA ticket secured, Rutto now sets his sights on the November by-election, where he will seek to turn the party’s endorsement into a mandate from the people of Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward.
