Tob Cohen, the Dutch tycoon who disappeared two months before his body was found inside a septic tank in his home on Friday, will be buried in Nairobi.
Cohen’s sister made the announcement on Sunday when she revealed that the millionaire’s family will have a private pathologist at a postmortem scheduled for Monday.
The family said Cohen wished to have his body buried at the Jewish cemetery on Wangari Maathai Road within 48 hours.
There will be no requem mass for the Dutch tycoon as the family seeks to honour his will.
Cohen’s wife, Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, was last week charged with murder and ordered to undergo a mental test before plea taking.
The businessman’s family and friends have urged the prosecution to ensure that Cohen gets justice.
Cohen was reported missing in July but his wife told police he had traveled abroad for specialised medical care.
The dutchman’s friend, former Gatundu North MP Patrick Muiruri, repeated his claim that the businessman complained of marital abuse.
Muiruri claimed that Sarah built a hotel in Nyeri without the knowledge of her husband, an issue that caused strife in their marriage.
But in a blog, http://iamsarahcohen.com, posted in August when she told police her husband was away in Thailand receiving medical treatment, Sarah sought to paint a negative narrative of her husband.
She said that her estranged husband was a ill-mannered drunk who suffered from mental illness.
“The reason I feel compelled to talk about Tob’s state of mind is because I believe it contextualizes my alleged role in his disappearance, and it redirects efforts towards actually finding him. It’s important that I give (and show) evidence of how I have been worried for his mental health for a while now,” the blog published on August 14, 2019 says.
At one of her daughters wedding, Sarah claims in her blog, that Cohen drank heavily and “caused quite a scene.”
Cohen is said to have started living in Kenya in 1987 when he worked as the Philips East chief executive officer.
