A man who was jailed for a period of two months was shocked when he arrived in his home in Rongo, Migori County only to find his family ready to bury a body they believed was his.

Those who on Sunday saw Fred Ochieng walking home including neighbors and friends were shocked and started running for their lives.

Ochieng a boda boda rider failed to part with Sh10,000 fine after he broke traffic rules and when he asked whose burial was taking place everyone started running away and avoiding him.

His brother Eric Omondi said that he courageously decided to go and have word with him in order to know what was taking place.

“But it took us over 30 minutes to find the courage to face the mysterious man and when I heard the side of his story I was equally perturbed,” Omondi said.

A day after he disappeared his family then filed a missing person report little did they know that he had been arrested by police officers in Rangwe.

He spent the weekend in a police cell and was arraigned in a Homabay court the following Monday where he was charged with the offence.

Ochieng failed to part with a Sh10,000 fine for lacking a driving license and an insurance for the motorbike.

He also did not have a phone which he could use to reach his kin and that saw him sent to prison on May 3.

When he was released he left the prison and was heading home he was shocked when a boda boda rider told him that his family had picked some remains from Rosewood Mortuary and were supposed to bury it the same day.
