Shock in Bungoma as 69-year-old woman found dead by the roadside

Residents of Nguresai village in Mt. Elgon constituency Bungoma County were shocked to find a body of a 69-year-old woman lying lifeless along Kapsokwony-Kaptama road on Friday morning.

Police officers from Kapsokwony police station arrived at the scene and collected the body.

Confirming the incident, Mt. Elgon Sub-County Police Commander James Mugo said the body did not have any injuries and that preliminary investigations point that Fridah Chemutai had a sudden death.

Mugo said criminal investigation officers are investigating the matter to establish the cause of Chemutai’s death.

“We are waiting for postmortem results from the morgue to know the real cause of her death,” said Mugo.

Kenneth Kiprotich son of the deceased woman told K24 digital his mother left home yesterday in the afternoon and never came back only to be found dead today in the morning.

Kiprotich mourned his mother saying she was in good health before she left in the afternoon and they were shocked to learn of her sudden death in unclear circumstances.

He called on investigation officers to expedite the process of investigation so that the family knows what claimed the life of their mother.

“We are really interested in knowing the cause of our mum’s death, if anybody is behind it, let him/her be brought to book and dealt with accordingly, “said Kiprotich.

Her body is now lying at Dreamland Hospital mortuary in Kimilili awaiting postmortem.
