Hotel bookings in Mombasa have recorded over 80 percent bookings way before Christmas holiday hits peak.

Speaking Tuesday during a media briefing at Pride Inn Beach Resort in Mombasa on Tuesday, the Kenya Coast Working Group Chair Hasnain Noorani said Mombasa has regained its glory attributed to good infrastructure and government support.

Noorani said that Christmas bookings and the hospitality business outlook in the Coastal region has recorded a significant increase by 15 percent over the same period last year.

The chair said that the SGR infrastructure investment has come in handy by helping bring in number of local tourists to the region in addition to the low-cost chartered flights to Mombasa that continue to increase.

Noorani said that Africa has been recognised internationally and chosen as the preferred vantage point for meetings, incentives conferences and exhibition destination.

The Coast Working Group chair lauded the government for assuring tourists of their security and appealed for speedy repair of damaged roads caused ongoing rains.

Noorani, who also doubles as the Pride Inn Beach Resort managing director, said he anticipated 100 percent bookings in the next two weeks.

Kenya Coast Tourism Association Chair Victor Shitakha called on Kenyans to take advantage of the improved services in the coastal region.

Shitakha said the Pride Inn Hotels will be sending humanitarian aid to the victims of the landslides catastrophe in West Pokot as part of their corporate social responsibility to rebuild their lives.
