The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) is on the spot for allegedly licensing unworthy planes, risking the safety and security of hundreds of passengers.

This follows a series of incidents by privately –owned airlines: Silverstone air and Safarilink Aviation.

The two carriers have had four reported incidents during takeoff and landing, raising safety concerns.

As a result, members of Parliament are now warning of impending tragedies in the face of KCAA’s failure to rein in on the airlines over lack of safety measures.

The National Assembly Transport committee has summoned top managers of the two commercial airlines to appear on Friday to shed light on the mishaps.

The committee chaired by David Pkosing (Pokot South) wants the two companies to provide information of the aircrafts’ age, their last inspection date, and who issued their airworthiness certificates.
