Bomet Senator Christopher Langat and his Samburu counterpart Steve Lelegwe have been arrested in Nairobi.
Their arrest was confirmed by the Special Services Unit and comes amid behind-the-scene intrigues over the stalemate on the counties’ revenue sharing formula.
The Bomet senator surrendered at his Nyayo Estate home and taken to the Embakasi Police Station for grilling in the presence of his lawyer.
His Samburu counterpart was seized while on his way to his house and has reportedly been taken to his county for questioning over alleged incitement remarks.
On Sunday night, police camped outside the homes of Senator Langat and his Kakamega colleague, Cleophas Malala, in what some of their counterparts allege is an intimidation attempt by the state over their stance on the revenue sharing formula.
