Senators have unanimously voted to adjourn their sitting to establish the whereabouts of three of their colleagues said to be under arrest.

In the heated debate Monday morning, senators demanded the unconditional release of their colleagues before they would continue with the debate on the county revenue sharing formula.

This followed successful adjournment motion by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei who sought to interrupt the debate on revenue formula over the arrest of Samburu Senator Steve Lelegwe, Bomet counterpart, Dr. Christopher Langat, and the planned arrest Kakamega’s Cleophas Malala.

“I am a servant of this House. When one of us is mistreated or is in the circumstances our colleagues find themselves in, we must stand together as a team,” Speaker Kenneth Lusaka ruled.

“I’m directing the Chair of the Security Committee to convene immediately after this and get all concerned parties to give us information on the whereabouts of the Senators and report back at 2:30 the progress of where our colleagues are,” Lusaka added.
