Murang’a County Senator Irungu Kang’ata has lost his father, Joseph Irungu.
Mr Kanga’ata told K24 Digital that his father died at the Oakwood Hospital in Karen, Nairobi aged 81.
The senator said that his father had been receiving treatment for throat cancer.
Irungu was known to be among the first metal fabricators in Murang’a town.
The senator’s father was born in 1938 in Kahuhia, Kiharu Constituency.
