Deputy President (DP) William Ruto on Sunday hit out at senior government officials, warning them against chest-thumping and showing disrespect.

Everyone who has been given a job by [President] Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee government, stop your chest-thumping),” said DP Ruto.

The Deputy President visited two African Inland Churches on Sunday at Gituamba, Lari in Kiambu and the other in Kajiado East.

Dr Ruto’s comments came just after Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa made similar comments, this time targeted at the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i over comments that seemed to have rubbed the MP the wrong way.

The sharp comments were issued by the two leaders just days after the unveiling of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

The report seems to have deepened the political schism within Jubilee Party as the two warring groups reconsider their positions on the BBI proposals.

Allies of DP Ruto want the BBI report adopted by Parliament while those leaning towards Raila Odinga want a referendum to decide the fate of the document.
