Reuben Kigame: Kenya is ripe for a blind president

By , September 4, 2025

Gospel artist Reuben Kigame has boldly stated that Kenya is now ripe for a blind president while stating that previously Kenya has had five seeing presidents who have failed to deliver.

Kigame, who made his remarks on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, during an interview with a local media house, firmly noted that if sight could fix Kenya’s problems, then the five previous presidents maybe would have fixed them.

“I actually think Kenya is ripe for a blind president. And it may happen only once anyway, and then you can go back to seeing presidents,” Kigame stated.

On his part, Kigame has argued that while Kenya has had 5 presidents, Kenya still has problems, hence ruling out that perhaps they see too much.

“If sight could fix the problems of Kenya, we’ve had 5 seeing presidents, and we still have problems. In fact, haya macho yanaweza kuwa ndio shida; you people see too much,” Kigame said.

According to the 5th and now 6th presidential candidates, Kenya is now ripe to have vision instead of mere sight.

“You people see too much; whatever you see, you want, whether it’s Shamba or somebody’s wife or, you know, money. Maybe it’s time to have vision and not mere sight,” he added.

Kigame’s vision

Kigame, who recently announced he will be running for presidency for a second time, has stated his hope to be able to prove to the world that a man may be able to see how the world runs without sight.

Kigame added, “But in fact, I hope that I can be able to prove to the world what Shakespeare used to write in King Lear. He wrote in King Lear that a man may see how this world goes without eyes.”

In addition, Kigame noted that, “It’s only five years. In fact, if I fail after the first year, I’m one of those presidents who would say, “I would be quite happy if I failed; you tell me Kigame must go. I’ll go.”

He noted, “If I fail and you can prove to me that I failed, I would be one of those presidents very happy to resign. Because you see, in Kenya, people never resign; even when you are caught, you never resign. In other countries, people are shot and killed for stealing, for robbing the state. Here you celebrate them, and you promote them.”
