Policewoman charged with murdering Makueni lawyer freed on Sh1m cash bail

Nancy Njeri, the Makueni-based policewoman who was charged with murdering lawyer Onesmus Makau, has been granted bail.

On Tuesday, December 14, Machakos High Court ordered the policewoman freed on a cash bail of Sh1 million or bond of Sh1 million with two sureties of a similar amount.

The court, however, issued strict bail terms for the policewoman, barring her from travelling outside the country without the permission of the judge.

Justice David Kenei also ordered the murder suspect not to interfere with witnesses in the case.

The murder case, Justice Kenei, said will be heard on May 27, 2021.

Njeri pleaded not guilty to murdering Masaku, a Makueni-based lawyer, on November 17 before Justice Kenei after she underwent the mandatory mental examination at the Mathari Hospital.

Masaku, who was practising law in Wote died in October while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital where he was admitted following injuries he sustained after Njeri allegedly attacked him.
