Lamu County police have summoned the boyfriend of Tecra Karanja, who died under mysterious circumstances over the weekend.

Tecra was the daughter of Keroche Breweries owner Tabitha Karanja.

Lamu police boss Moses Muriithi said Tecra’s boyfriend had been summoned to shed more light to investigative agencies on how she sustained head injuries that led to her death on Saturday morning.

“Initial investigations indicate that she slipped and fell in her bathroom and sustained head injuries. However, the matter has since been taken over by DCI Homicide Unit and investigations are ongoing,” he said.

The postmortem that was scheduled for Sunday, May 3, was postponed to give time for the detectives from the Homicide Unit, DCI headquarters, to revisit the scene of the accident.

Detectives also plan to interview other people, besides the boyfriend, who were with the deceased before and when the accident happened.

“We are still unable to give much information since the matter was reported in Kilimani Police Station in Nairobi,” said Muriithi.

Tecra was rushed to King Fahad Hospital in Lamu before she was airlifted to Nairobi.
She succumbed to injuries on Saturday, May 2.

In a statement to media houses, Keroche Breweries said Tecra, who was the Company’s strategy and innovation director passed away on May 2 following a tragic accident.
