Police officers attached to Madogo Police Station in Tana River County are conducting a search for their colleague who allegedly went missing after sending a suicidal note on WhatsApp.

In a report seen by K24 Digital, the officer identified as Evans Onditi Nacheri attached to Maroro Police Post also left behind a suicide note inside his house.

The suicide note revealed that he had opted to use an unspecified method to end his life instead of using a firearm.

In the report made by his colleague Charles Gichuki who is a police constable, the suicide note had gone viral on WhatsApp groups.

“It was reported by Charles Gichuki who is a Police Constable that Evans Onditi Nacheri of Maroro Police Post had sent a suicide note in Madogo Police Station WhatsApp group,” the report read in part.

“He had also threatened that he would use unspecified means to take his life instead of using the rifle,” it further read.

Once the suicide note was seen by his colleague, the Officer Commanding Station Madogo and a sleuth attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) from the same station rushed to his house at Adele village.

On reaching his house, they found that the door was wide open and they searched inside the house but did not find him.

However, the officers found the suicide note which was similar to the one that was sent on WhatsApp.

Currently, a search is still being conducted with the aim of finding the officer either alive or dead.

Cases of police officers threatening to end their lives have been on the increase in the country in the recent past.
