Senior Sergeant George Omomdi Omwa attached to Siaya- Huduma centre was found dead in his house at Administration Police line this morning.

According to witnesses, the cop burned down his house at around 8:00 am, and efforts to save the life of the slain officer proved futile.

Neighbours noticed smoke billowing from the house before calling the fire brigade from the Siaya County, which managed to put out the fire.

However, the neighbour’s blamed the county government firefighters for their late response, claiming that the county offices are 100 meters away from the scene.

It has been reported that the officer was alone inside the house by the time of the fire incident.

Siaya County Commissioner Mohamed Bare confirmed the incident and says investigation are underway to establish the cause of the fire.

“We are mourning a senior officer and the DCI are on the ground investigating to find out what really happened,”he said.

The body has since been moved to Siaya Referral mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
