Police in Utange, Kisauni Sub-County, Mombasa County have launched a hunt for a 30-year-old man accused of sexually abusing his two daughters aged 8 years old (biological) and 12 years old (stepchild).

The suspect, whom we won’t publish his name to protect the victims’ identities, allegedly escaped from his home in Utange early this week after he was informed that authorities were on their way to arrest him.

“There are crucial leads we are following, which will take us to his hideout,” Kisauni Sub-County OCPD Julius Kiragu told K24 Digital.

“He fled his home after the minors, whom he has allegedly been abusing sexually, recorded statements with police,” added Kiragu.

The area police boss said he has organised with the children’s office in Kisauni to have the victims undergo counselling.

According to the children’s statement, their father would often force them to “suck his manhood” every time he fought with their mother. The minors said the sexual abuse has been going on for one year now.

“Upon completion of investigations, we will determine which appropriate charges to press against the suspect,” said Kiragu.

The children’s mother, 25, described her husband of eight years as a violent man, who had trust issues.

“He often accuses me of infidelity,” said the vicenarian.

“He would occasionally pour on the floor meals I’ve prepared for the children, saying it’s another man who bought the food,” said the victims’ mother.

She added that her spouse would, thereafter, beat her to a pulp before asking their two daughters aged 8 and 12 to perform oral sex on him.

“Every time I regain consciousness after being physically assaulted by my husband, I usually find my children crying, and when I inquire why they’re weeping, they say: ‘dad forced us to touch and suck his manhood’.”

The woman claims her partner has been threatening to kill the children should she or the minors report the matter to police.

“I urge authorities to take us to a safe place before he (husband) returns to kill us,” said the distressed 25-year-old.

Kisauni police boss Julius Kiragu told K24 Digital that the children’s officers will take in the victims and their other three siblings.

The suspect and his wife are parents to five children; the first three are girls aged between 8 and 12; whereas the last two are boys, with the youngest child aged 2 years old. The minors’ mother got her eldest child from a previous relationship.

Should the suspect be arrested, prosecuted and found guilty of committing an indecent act with a child, he stares at a jail sentence of at least 10 years.

Section 11 (1) of Kenya’s Sexual Offences Act 2006 states: “Any person who commits an indecent act with a child is guilty of the offence of committing an indecent act with a child and is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than ten years.”
