“The officers were on patrol at Bushiri market within Ingotse Sub-Location when they received a tip-off from a member of the public that one Francis Barasa was seen wearing a military uniform,” the police report read in part.

The officers immediately went to his house but when the suspect spotted them, he escaped.

The officers ransacked the house and recovered a pair of jungle boots, two navy combat shirts and one navy combat trouser.

They also recovered; one Kenya army combat shirt, two camouflage shirts (t-shirts) and one National Youth Service (NYS) jungle shirt.

Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and regular officers have since launched a manhunt for the suspect.

Already, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) headquarters has been contacted to verify ownership of the uniforms.

In another incident, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) imposter was nabbed by police officers on December 7, 2021, in Kisii County as he attempted to arrest a female cop.

The man is said to have driven into Suneka Police Station wearing a military camouflage jacket and parked a Toyota Delta in the compound.

He then walked courageously into the report office and dragged out a female constable for allegedly wearing an inappropriate police uniform.
