Police on Monday, April 18 launched an investigation into a viral video showing a woman with her supposed son wailing helplessly while being whipped mercilessly by unnamed people.

In a statement on Twitter, police called out the inhumane act confirming that local officers are handling the matter.

“A video clip circulating on social media where an old lady and a young man assumed to be her son are being flogged by an unnamed aggressor has been noted by the National Police Service.

“The cruel act victimising the two for whatever reason is unjustified, unlawful and cruel. NPS joins outraged Kenyans in condemning the uncalled brutality against the two,” a tweet by NPS read.

In the video that caused uproar online, a man and a woman are seen being violently assaulted by a number of men.

The clip shows the lady being repetitively whipped while she helplessly pleads for mercy and help from onlookers who seemed unbothered.

The lady had been accused of being disrespectful.
