Police officers in Rongai left a trail of destruction after they raided two homes in the hunt for illicit brew dens.
The officers numbering about 15 raided two homes in Kaptembwa village on Sunday morning.
Julius Tuitoek, whose home was raided, said he took off after he saw the policemen alighting from their vehicle.
“I only sell fuel. I don’t engage in any illicit brew trade,” Tuitoek said.
He said that the officers descended on his home and destroyed everything, including their food supplies.
“The children had gone to take the animals to the grazing field but when they came back and spotted them, they also retreated back,” he added.
Tuitoek’s neighbour, Benson Kirui’s family, was also not spared either as their household goods were also destroyed.
But Rongai Sub-County Police Commander, Richard Rotich, disputed their claims saying that the officers were raiding brew dens.
Mr. Rotich said that some of the locals threatened to shoot the officers with arrows forcing police to shoot in the air.
“In fact, I have sent more officers to comb the area for the man. They attacked our officers,” he said.
