PHOTOS: Gachagua arrives in Dallas, Texas to engage Kenyans in diaspora

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday, August 1, 2025, arrived in Dallas, Texas, to a warm reception from Kenyans living in the United States.

Accompanied by his spouse, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, the former second-in-command touched down at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, where he was received with chants, cheers, and song by enthusiastic members of the Kenyan diaspora community.

In a statement shared via his official X account in the wee hours of Saturday, August 2, 2025, Gachagua expressed his excitement and appreciation for the “overwhelming love” he received.

“In the company of my spouse, @Pastor_Dorcas, we touched down at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Dallas City, to the great joy and overwhelming love of Kenyans,” Gachagua stated.

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader noted that he would be engaging Kenyans living and working in Texas on the future of Kenya.

“It is great fun and happiness to be in Texas State. We shall candidly engage Kenyans living and working here on the future of our nation. I am looking forward to the great Lone Star State,” he wrote on X.

Gachagua’s opposition politics

Despite his removal from office, Gachagua remains politically active and continues to position himself as a voice within the opposition space.

His itinerary includes town hall meetings with Kenyans across Texas, including Dallas and Houston, focusing on diaspora participation in national development, civic awareness, and the rights of Kenyans abroad.

Meeting with Matiang’i

Gachagua has also held a private meeting with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i during his trip to the United States.

In a statement posted on his social media platforms on Saturday, July 26, 2025, Gachagua said the meeting took place in Aberdeen, Maryland, and was centred on matters of national interest.

“During my visit to the USA, I had a tete-a-tete with Dr. Fred Matiangi at Aberdeen, Maryland,” he said.

Furthermore, the former deputy president emphasised that both leaders remain firmly committed to Kenya’s future.

“We discussed several issues affecting our country, Kenya, and our liberation cause. Our focus remains strong, and our commitment to the people of Kenya is unwavering. God bless Kenya,” he stated.
