Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has welcomed the renewed camaraderie between President William Ruto and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The two leaders met on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Uhuru’s rural home in Gatundu, Kiambu County, an interaction that has highly been publicized.
Passaris, sharing her thoughts on the meeting, noted the importance of harmonious relationships among key leaders in bringing stability and growth to the nation.
“By nurturing harmonious relationships among all stakeholders, we can foster collective stability and growth, emphasizing that collaboration is crucial for overcoming challenges and achieving our national aspirations,” she stated.
The Nairobi lawmaker further called on Kenyans to embrace unity, emphasizing the need to focus on shared goals rather than differences.
“May this spirit of unity guide us towards a prosperous future, reminding us that our differences are insignificant compared to our shared destiny,” Passaris added.
The photos shared widely on social media showed Uhuru and Ruto engaging in warm and seemingly productive conversations.
Ruto praises Uhuru
The Office of the 4th President of Kenya issued a statement revealing that President William Ruto had paid a courtesy visit to former President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Gatundu home. During the meeting, the two leaders engaged in discussions on matters of national importance.
“President William Ruto pays a courtesy call to former President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Gatundu home. The two leaders discussed issues of National interest,” the statement read.
State House also shared a statement highlighting President Ruto’s remarks, in which he expressed his gratitude and recognition for Uhuru Kenyatta’s leadership during the peaceful transfer of power following the 2022 elections. Additionally, the Head of State praised the former President for his continued support of fellow leaders and his contributions to Kenya’s progress and development.
Furthermore, Ruto thanked the former president for establishing a solid foundation that has enabled the current administration to advance key initiatives under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
