Former nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has come out accusing President William Ruto of being the biggest abuser of the former prime minister, the late Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in an interview with a local media house, the former United Democratic Alliance-nominated senator accused Ruto of hypocrisy, further giving the late Raila Odinga a state funeral.

On her part, Orwoba noted that Ruto was sad following the loss of Raila Odinga because of his 2027 political stand ahead of the general elections.

“The biggest abuser of Raila is Ruto, yet he was the one at the forefront of conducting his state funeral. He was sad because he knew that without Raila, he’s in trouble in the 2027 elections,” Orwoba said.

She went on calling out Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga’s remarks on the visitation of the United Opposition members to Raila Odinga’s family.

Orwoba maintained that the United Opposition leaders should be given an opportunity if they wanted to visit Raila’s home and mourn with the family.

“Therefore, if the united opposition wants to visit Raila’s home and mourn with the family, let them do so. It was shameful for Gladys Wanga to make such statements because only the family has the right to stop anyone from visiting their home,” Gloria Orwoba said.

Her remarks come after President William Ruto recently disclosed that the late Raila Odinga’s greatest wish was for Kenya to be led by a just, visionary, and transformative president.

Speaking at Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County during the Mashujaa Day celebrations on Monday, October 20, 2025, Ruto reflected on the life of the former prime minister, describing him as a man who always placed the country above self.

The President said Raila’s politics were never driven by greed or personal ambition but by an enduring desire to see Kenya governed well and its people prospering under capable leadership.

Ruto further praised the former prime minister as a patriot devoted to Kenya’s progress over personal ambition.

“It was never about Raila becoming president; it was about Kenya having a good president,” Ruto stated.

“He believed that Kenya’s best days were still ahead. He endured prison, persecution, and political defeat yet never gave in to bitterness or hopelessness.”

The Head of State’s remarks were received with warm applause from the crowd, many of whom interpreted them as an acknowledgement that Raila had lived long enough to see part of his dream realized, a Kenya striving for honest and accountable governance.
