ODM joins Kenyans in mourning Raila Odinga’s sister Beryl Achieng
By Ascah Mwango, November 25, 2025The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has paid tribute to Madam Beryl Achieng’ Odinga, sister to Party Leader Senator Oburu Odinga and the late founding Party Leader, Raila Amolo Odinga, following her passing on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
In a statement shared on X, ODM expressed sadness over her death and described Beryl as a hardworking and dedicated public servant.
The party noted that, despite coming from a prominent political family, she chose to live a quiet life away from the public spotlight, focusing on service rather than fame. The party said that her passing, which comes just 40 days after the death of her brother, Raila Odinga, has been a moment of profound grief for the family and the nation.
The party joined Kenyans in mourning her loss, recognising her contributions and devotion to public service.

ODM extended condolences to the Odinga family, praying that her soul may rest in peace and acknowledging the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Madam Beryl Achieng’ Odinga this afternoon after an illness. We remember Beryl as a hardworking and dedicated public servant who, despite coming from a prominent family, chose to live a quiet life away from the glare of cameras. We join the rest of the country in condoling with the Odingas following her death, which comes 40 days after the demise of our Leader, Hon. Raila Odinga. May her soul rest in peace,” the statement read.

The news of Beryl’s death was first confirmed by Raila Odinga’s elder sister, Ruth Odinga, who said her sister passed away on Tuesday. The family has not disclosed the cause of her death.
Ruth Odinga shared a heartfelt statement on behalf of the family.
“It is with a heavy heart, but accepting the will of God, we announce the sudden passing of Beryl Achieng Odinga. Daughter of the Late Hon Jaramogi Odinga and Mama Mary Ajuma Oginga. Mother to Ami Auma, Chizi, and Taurai. Sister to Senator Oburu Odinga, Rt Hon Raila Odinga, Akinyi Wenwa, among others. Sister-in-law to Dr Anne Oburu, Dr Canon Ida Odinga, Hon Tabu Osewe, and Judy Oburu,” she said.
“While we are deeply saddened by her demise and the immense void left in our lives, we take solace in the belief that she is safe in the Lord’s arms and are thankful for the invaluable gift of the time we were privileged to share with her and for the profound impact she had on all who knew her.”
Beryl’s death comes a month after the nation mourned the passing of her brother, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
