The Milimani Law Courts on Thursday, July 4 declined to grant Jubilee digital strategist, Dennis Itumbi, an opportunity to play a video he claimed captured what was discussed by Mt. Kenya Cabinet ministers during their La Mada Hotel meeting on May 14.

Itumbi is accused of authoring and circulating a fake letter, which alleged that four Cabinet Secretaries – Sicily Kariuki (Health), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Peter Munya (Trade) and James Macharia (Transport) – met at La Mada to plan the assassination of Deputy President William Ruto.

According to Itumbi, claims that the DP’s life is in danger are not hot air – and that he has video evidence of what the CSs talked about at the hotel.

The former blogger requested Senior Resident Magistrate, Zainab Abdul, to allow him play the video in court.

The magistrate, however, rejected Itumbi’s request, saying his plea came at the wrong stage in the case.

According to Zainab, Itumbi hasn’t even taken plea, hence he could not be allowed to submit to the court what he deemed to be “evidence”.

Zainab ordered Itumbi be detained for five days at Muthaiga Police Station as the prosecution collects more evidence to firm up their case.

The digital strategist was arrested on Wednesday, July 3 at Charlies Bistro restaurant in Nairobi CBD.

He spent the night at Muthaiga police post.
