The Director-General of Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Major-General Mohammed Abdalla Badi on Thursday, September 10, took the Oath of Secrecy in fulfillment of requirements by all persons allowed in Cabinet meetings.
State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena-Mararo said Badi will “henceforth attend all meetings of Cabinet and its committees, pursuant to Executive Order No. 3 of 2020”.
The ceremony was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House-Nairobi.
“It was a precursor to the Cabinet meeting held at State House, Nairobi on September 10, 2020,” said Kanze Dena.
On June 3, 2020 President Kenyatta formally put the NMS under the Office of the President following an Executive order.
The President effected the restructuring by amending the Executive Order No. 1 of 2020 issued in January this year. The Presidency title was, as a result, changed to the Executive Office of the President.
NMS came into existence on March 18 when the deed of transfer of functions signed between Governor Mike Sonko and the State came into effect.
Under the deed, four county functions of health, transport, planning and management, and public works and ancillary services were transferred to the national government.
