Njiraini pulls out of race for National Land Commission top job

Former Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General John Njiraini has withdrawn his candidature for the position of National Land Commission Chairperson.

In a letter dated August 6, 2019, Njiraini said that he wishes to withdraw his candidacy due to personal reasons.

“I wish to communicate my decision to withdraw as candidate for the position of Chairperson of the National Land Commission in order to pursue other interests,” Njiraini said in a letter to the panel for selection of the NLC Chairperson and members.

“I wish to thank you and other panel members for having granted me the opportunity to present my ideas on how this important national institution can be transformed through the injection of a fresh leadership dynamic.”

Njiraini was among the 11 candidates who were shortlisted to succeed Muhammad Swazuri as the NLC boss.

A total of 11 candidates were shortlisted for the NLC chairmanship position.

The remaining canditates are; Prominent Laywer Gerishom Otachi, Paul Musili, Executive Director of the Land Development & Governance Institute

Mwenda Makathimo, Robert Kilimo, Humphrey Njuguna, former Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Naomi Wagereka, Tiyah Galgalo, former Nyeri MP Esther Murugi and Hussein Farah.
