Eric Wekesa, the newly elected Chwele-Kabuchai MCA, has revealed that he was summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nandi County in connection with a robbery incident.

Wekesa, who won the Chwele-Kabuchai seat with 6,162 votes, defeating his closest rival, Vincent Wekesa Maunda of the Ford Kenya party, garnered 2,765 votes. ,

According to a message shared by Wekesa on Facebook, on Monday, December 1, 2025, a purported DCI officer summoned him to appear at the Nandi DCI office, in connection with a robbery that took place in Tinderet Sub-County, where coffee berries were reportedly stolen.

The MCA-elect expressed concern over the timing of the summons, which he believes could be politically motivated. Wekesa described the move as an attempt to intimidate him ahead of his swearing-in.

Outrageous

Wekesa condemned the action, calling it outrageous and unfair. “This is outrageous! Why can’t their party leader accept that he lost? Didn’t we agree to reconcile and unite our people? Now he plans to embarrass me and arrest me on the swearing-in date,” he said.

The independent candidate raised concerns about his personal safety, claiming that he has been under surveillance.

“I’m aware of six gunmen trailing me up to now. Why the witch hunt? The only thing I do with coffee is drink it. I neither farm nor trade in berries,” he added, insisting that he had no connection to the alleged robbery.

Wekesa also reaffirmed his confidence in the democratic process and the support of his constituents. “We won this seat fair and square. Even if DCI comes calling, we will face it. Tuliwashinda kwa kura hii ya DCI pia tutashinda. Mungu Yupo,” he stated, emphasising his trust in justice and divine protection.
