My barber is God: Kabogo Reacts to hilarious memes on his hairline and looks
By Nancy Marende, November 28, 2025ICT Cabinet Secretary (CS) William Kabogo has addressed the online memes and jokes surrounding his hairline, haircut, and general social media trolling.
Speaking during the official opening of the 8th Annual Editors Convention 2025, on Friday, November 28, 2025, organised by the Kenya Editors Guild (KEG) in Kilifi County, Kabogo said he has learnt to embrace public scrutiny, especially from journalists and online users.
“Many things happen against me by journalists, but I take them very positively. One is my haircut; they have a big issue with it. I tell them it’s okay. Wivu ni sawa because my barber is God, but your barber, you have to go to Githurai every other week to get a haircut,” he stated.

“Then, as I was coming in this morning, on X, some guy called Gimmy wrote, ‘Take it in, we are migrating. This is Kabogo saying we are migrating to the cloud,’ and then I say again, mko na budget ya ndege au mnatumia matatu?’” And then I say again, mko na budget ya ndege au mnatumia matatu? These innovations are good. These things are good,” he added.

His sense of fashion
He also recalled another viral moment when he was photographed sitting on a low chair, causing his trousers to ride up. The image quickly turned into memes comparing it to how women cover their dresses.
“When I met the young man who made that meme, I signed off on a competition for those things, and he won Ksh100,000 because of the good job he did,” Kabogo revealed. “It made me popular. So anyway, journalism to me is a hobby. I like it.”

Kabogo further reflected on Kenya’s evolving media freedoms, noting how times have changed since the Moi era.
“Mzee Njiru was one of the most feared in those days, but you see, he is sitting here comfortably. During Moi’s time, there were certain things you could not say. So media freedom is coming true, and working together in this space is important.”
