The Mombasa County leadership has been on the limelight over the manner in which they have handled the Covid-19 pandemic as the crisis unfolds with more cases reported.

Governor Ali Hassan Joho has won the hearts of many Kenyans for providing much-needed leadership in the counties, where with a few other county chiefs, they have set the pace with initiatives worth emulating.

Now Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has also followed suit, choosing to donate his full salary for the emergency Covid-19 in Mombasa County.

He is now the only legislator to forsake his entire salary to help cushion Kenyans during this biting crisis.

Abdulswamad told K24 Digital that he has proposed a bill to have Kenyans’ electricity bills waived during Covid-19 crisis.

The bill is set for debate on Wednesday, April 22.

Further, the MP said that his constituency has set aside Sh12 million to be used for NHIF to cater for about 2,000 families in Mvita.

He also urged people to stop stigmatizing those infected by coronavirus diseases, saying the disease does not discriminate based on tribe, race or societal status.
