Murder and suicide: Man shoots his wife then kills himself in locked Kiambu house

Police in Kiambu town have launched an investigation to determine what would have led a man into murdering his wife and himself shortly after.

According to the Kiambu police station report seen by K24 Digital, Jonathan Mukundi Gachunga,42, who is also a licenced firearm holder is said to have murdered his wife Philomena Njeri,30, by shooting her in the head.

He then followed up the murder by committing suicide where he allegedly shot himself in the head with the same firearm inside their bedroom.

Out of suspicion, a close friend to the deceased identified as Robert Charango Njuguna,35 reported the incident to Kiambu police station after Jonathan failed to pick his phone calls.

Accompanied by the police, they stormed their house and their bedroom which had been locked from the inside and found the couple’s bodies lying lifeless.

They further found a firearm make Glock mini s/no BEZA475.

The two bodies have since been taken to Kenyatta referral hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
